Lyricist Abhilash, who wrote songs like 'So Shakti Hum Dena Daata' (Ankush), has died in Mumbai. According to reports, he breathed his last on Monday morning. Abhilash was battling liver cancer and was in bed for the last 10 months. He was to have a liver transplant. But this could not happen due to the financial constraints.

Information about Abhilash's condition was revealed in the media two days ago. Lyricist's wife Neera Abhilash sought an urgent financial help from the Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS).

The reports quoted family sources as saying that the family had spent all its capital on Abhilash's medical care. Initially, he was getting help from well-wishers. But they too could not spend long. Because liver cancer costs are very expensive.

According to the list of IMDB, Abhilash has produced 'Speed' (1975), 'Jawali' (1977), 'Sawan Ko Aane Do' (1979), 'Lal Chuda' (1974), 'Ankush' (1986), 'Hustle' (1995) and wrote songs for films like 'Moksha' (2013). Apart from this, he has also been given credits for the dialogues of 'Jai Jagannath' (2007) and the additional story of 'Jeet hai shaan se' (1988).
