Under the Indian Copyright Act ‘work made for hire’ is not de ned, however,
the concept of the phrase is imported in the wordings of Section 17 of the
Copyright Act,1957 which relates to the rst ownership rights, and similar to
Section 101 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the U.S. Code) could be in two
forms:

(i) Works created under a contract of employment or apprenticeship
(Contract of Service);

(ii) Specially commissioned works (Contract for Service).
