If the term of assignment is not speci cally stated in the agreement, it shall be
deemed to be ve years from the date of assignment (Section 19(5)).

Therefore, it is imperative to specify the term/ duration of assignment of
copyright in the agreements, especially if the assignment is intended to be
procured for a period longer than ve years.
