I am Sonalisa Mishra, currently based in Brisbane, Australia, with deep roots in Bhubaneswar, India. My passion for the performing arts began at an early age. I started learning Hindustani Classical Vocals at just three years old, which led me to excel in various competitions and perform on prestigious stages across India. Alongside my musical journey, I have trained in Odissi dance and explored acting, appearing in serials and modeling projects. Relocating to Brisbane eight years ago, I’ve embraced opportunities to share my cultural heritage, performing across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
One of my proudest accomplishments is winning the Australian Icon Title in December 2019, which gave me the honor of representing at the 3rd International Indian Icon shows in Chicago, USA. My unplugged covers have received widespread appreciation online, and my five-song album, Pyaar Ho Gaya, created in collaboration with Bollywood composers Viraal and Arya, showcases my versatility with genres ranging from soulful ballads to vibrant folk tunes. Additionally, my original compositions Mere Geet and Tu Hi Khuda, created in collaboration with my talented team of musicians, are close to my heart and reflect my artistic journey and growth.
Beyond music, I am deeply committed to philanthropy. I have organized impactful charity events such as Bollywood Fusion Night and World Music Night, raising funds for causes close to my heart, including cancer research, domestic violence support, and children’s hospices. These events reflect my vision of uniting cultures through music while making a meaningful difference in the community. Looking ahead, I am working on an upcoming Ghazal album that pays homage to my Hindustani classical roots, alongside exciting collaborations across diverse musical and cultural landscapes. Through my academy, Mokhya, I strive to preserve and promote cultural heritage, ensuring the beauty of the performing arts continues to transcend generations.
