performer's Rights and the amendments to the Copyright Act in 2012 The parliament passed the copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 which ccame into force on June 21, 2012. Recognising the neeed to strengthen the rights given to performers by the previous amendments in 1994 to the Copyright Act, one of thhe main features of the amendments in 2012 have beeen to provide certain exclusive rights to 'performers'.

These amendments are also in compliance with india's obligattions under international treaties. further, moral rights have also been introduced for performers.
